In Ayurveda, conditions such as autoimmunity, allergies, and cancer are viewed as signs of deeper imbalance — particularly involving digestion, detoxification, and immune regulation. Hence they all come under 1 category of illness called Ojadushti (imbalance of ojas or immunity).
The emphasis here should not only be treatment, but on how you live daily. Ayurveda teaches that routine, diet, sleep, stress management, and elimination patterns and together they all influence how well the body clears metabolic waste and environmental toxins.
We can observe that people are exposed to similar modern stressors — smoking, processed foods, plastics, pollution — yet their health outcomes differ significantly. Some individuals appear to detoxify and recover more efficiently, while others develop chronic inflammatory or immune-related conditions
Ojas related diseases or Ojadushti
Immune related illnesses in Ayurveda are of 3 types-
Oja-visramsa is displacement or dysregulation of Immune system
Oja-vyapat is derangement of immune system
Oja-kshaya is depletion or reduction of immune system
Oja-visramsa leads to Auto-Immune illness
It is an Ayurvedic term referring to the displacement or dislodgement of Ojas (vital essence/immunity) from its normal location in the body. It is the first of three Ojas disorders (preceding vyapat and kshaya), characterized by symptoms like joint pain, fatigue, and dysfunction of body/mind, often linked to autoimmunity.
This type of ojadushti is seen in vata & pitha predominant people.
When Ojas is stable, it supports resilience, clarity, and balanced immunity. When it becomes disturbed, the body’s defense system may lose its proper regulation.
In modern medicine we call this as autoimmune diseases when the immune system, instead of targeting infections or harmful substances, mistakenly reacts against the body’s own tissues.

This type of imbalance is seen in autoimmune conditions such as:
Rheumatoid arthritis
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
Raynaud’s phenomenon
Multiple sclerosis
Key Symptoms:
Sandhi Vishlesha: Loosening or pain in the joints.
Gatra Sada/Gatra Sadanam: Fatigue, malaise, or exhaustion.
Dosha Chyavana: Displacement of vitiated Doshas (typically Vata) from their normal sites.
Kriya Sannirodha: Failure or suppression of normal physical and mental activities.
It signifies a weakening of immune stability, often seen in early stages of autoimmune diseases.
How to treat Auto immune illnesses?
In modern medicine, many autoimmune diseases are treated with medications that suppress the immune system. The goal is to reduce inflammation and prevent the immune system from attacking the body’s own tissues.
These treatments can be effective in controlling symptoms and preventing organ damage. However, because they lower immune activity, they may also increase susceptibility to certain infections. That is why patients on immune-suppressing therapies are carefully monitored and often advised to take preventive measures.
The challenge in autoimmune care is finding balance calming harmful inflammation while maintaining enough immune protection. This is where integrative approaches may complement medical treatment — by supporting overall resilience through nutrition, stress reduction, sleep, gut health, and lifestyle discipline — while continuing appropriate medical supervision. These methods are taught exclusively in my programs.
Oja-vyapat leads to Allergies
Oja-vyapat is an Ayurvedic concept representing the second stage of Oja Dushti (impairment of immunity/vitality), characterized by the qualitative alteration or contamination of Ojas due to vitiated Doshas. This condition results in physical rigidity, severe exhaustion, stiffness, edema, breathing difficulty and discoloration, often associated with immune aberrations or allergies. Ex -food allergies, asthma, bee stings etc

It is seen in especially Vata predominant.
Key Symptoms:
Stabdha guru gatrata: stiffness and heaviness of the body
Vatashopha: unstable edema due to Vata
Varna bheda: skin discoloration
Glani: mental fatigue
Tandra: lassitude
Nidra: excessive sleep
How to treat Allergies?
1. Rasayana (Rejuvenation) Therapy
Since Oja Vyapat is a qualitative disturbance, Ayurvedic practitioners use Rasayanas—special herbs and formulas that improve the quality of all bodily tissues (Dhatus) and their final essence, Ojas.
Key Herbs: Ashwagandha, Shatavari, Amalaki (Amla), and Guduchi are commonly used to stabilize and enhance the quality of Ojas.
Chyavanprash: This traditional herbal jam is considered a "standard cure-all" because it reduces the factors that decrease or disturb Ojas.
Shilajit: Specifically noted for its ability to restore vitality in complex metabolic or immune-related Ojas disorders.
In modern medicine the best way to prevent allergies is to avoid exposure to the substance that causes allergies or avoiding allergens. When accidental exposure occurs we give Benadryl or EpiPen or rescue inhalers .
Oja-kshaya leads to cancer
It is the Ayurvedic term for the depletion or reduction of Ojas, the body’s vital essence responsible for immunity, strength, and vitality. It manifests as fatigue, weakness, anxiety, and lowered immunity, often caused by chronic stress, excessive exertion, improper diet, or disease. This depletion of the immune system or immune suppression is also a sign of premature aging.

This is seen in kapha predominant people. In modern medicine besides cancer Oja-kshya is also seen in AIDS, tuberculosis etc
Ojas is considered the essence of all seven dhatus (tissues) and provides physical and psychological vitality. Its depletion leads to diminished immunity.
Symptoms: Key indicators include fear, anxiety, weakness.
lack of enthusiasm
muscle wasting (mamsa kshaya)
fatigue (gatra sadanam),
fainting (murchcha).
Causes: Factors include constant worry (chinta), over-exertion, excessive sexual activity (ativyayaya), anger, hatred and repeated injury.
How to treat Cancer?
Doshic Imbalance: It is typically considered a Tridoshaja disorder, meaning all three biological energies are severely out of sync.
Vata is associated with uncontrolled cell growth and metastasis.
Pitta relates to the high metabolic activity and inflammation within cancerous cells.
Kapha is responsible for the physical structure and bulk of the tumor mass.
in addiiton to above treatements a combination of Rasayana and other therapies mentioned in Allergies are also helpful in cancer treatments.
In modern medicine we use 3 primary modalities for cancer
Chemotherapy
Radiotherapy
Immunotherapy
All 3 are effective in preventing recurrences or growth of cancer when concurrent ayurvedic practices mentioned above are done with consistency and proper guidance.
