Firstly how can you tell if negative energy is circulating in your home?
There are 4 classic signs that often indicate disturbed or evil energy in your living space.
1. Frequent, unresolved conflict between husband & wife

One of the most common signs of disturbed energy in a home is frequent arguments between spouses—so frequent that communication stops for days, weeks, or even months. This becomes especially concerning when the relationship was once loving and stable yet has recently deteriorated without a clear or identifiable trigger. Often, neither partner can even remember what the original argument was about.
In a home, the husband-and-wife act as the two primary pillars, one being logical and another being emotional and together they strike a marvelous balance. When they are out of sync—through constant conflict, emotional distance, infidelity, or prolonged physical separation—the energy of the home inevitably suffers. Sometimes, partners take up work that keeps them away from home under the label of “professional commitments,” but beneath the surface, it may be an unconscious attempt to escape discomfort, emotional disconnect, engaging with another partner or lack of peace at home.
When avoidance replaces connection, silence replaces communication, and returning home feels heavy rather than comforting, it is often a sign of stagnant or negative energy circulating within space.
Here is a simple yet powerful way to check whether your home is holding negative or stagnant energy something which I promised in the beginning of the blog. This check can be done by everyone, married or unmarried.
After a long day at work, ask yourself honestly this 1 thing- Do I feel relieved and eager to return home and see my partner and family members or do I feel resistance, dread, or a desire to stay away? Answering this honestly can reveal not only the state of your relationship, but also the energetic health of your home.

Healthy relationships are not free of challenges, but when a couple reaches a place of emotional safety and mutual respect, the home becomes a sanctuary. Once that foundation is restored, external negativity loses its power, and the home regains its ability to nurture, protect, and heal everyone within it.
If your honest answer is, “No—I don’t feel like going home to my partner or family,” it is a strong indication that negative or evil energy may be circulating within your home environment.
2. Paintings or wall hangings repeatedly tilt or hang crooked.

Another commonly noticed sign is when paintings or wall hangings begin to tilt or hang crooked without anyone touching or disturbing them. While this may seem insignificant, when it happens repeatedly, it often reflects energetic imbalance in the space rather than a random physical cause. There’s no need for alarm—this is simply an indication that the energy in the home needs attention and realignment.
I personally experienced this during a period when I was dealing with consecutive health challenges. I was so consumed with hospital visits and recovery that I didn’t notice the gradual pictures and paintings in my surroundings, including wall hangings remaining crooked for months. In hindsight, it mirrored the internal and external chaos I was experiencing at the time.
3. Diya or lamp flickers excessively or goes out repeatedly.

If you notice that a diya or lamp in your puja room keeps flickering unusually or extinguishes on its own without a clear reason, it can indicate disturbed energy in the environment. Again, this is not something to fear. Negative or stagnant energy often thrives on creating doubt and fear, subtly discouraging positive action and clarity.
The key is not to react with anxiety. Instead, remain calm and grounded. When fear is removed, negative energy loses its influence.
4. Repeated damage, disruptions, or unexpected setbacks at home.

Another sign often associated with disturbed or stagnant energy is a pattern of repeated disruptions, repairs, breakdowns, or circumstances that continuously force family members away from the home.
I once worked with a couple who, soon after moving into their newly built home, found themselves repeatedly unable to stay there. Within days of their gruha pravesham (house warming), one of their parent who had been healthy and present at the housewarming was suddenly diagnosed with cancer. The family had to travel overseas for treatment, leading to prolonged separation and emotional strain between the 2. Over time, this distance contributed to stress, misunderstandings, and frequent arguments.
Just as they were beginning to regain stability, an unexpected incident occurred—a frozen pipe burst in the new house, flooding the home and forcing them to relocate again, this time for several months while repairs were completed. The financial burden and repeated displacement added further stress and exhaustion. When such disruptions occur repeatedly, especially in a new or otherwise well-maintained home, it may reflect an environment that lacks grounding, stability, or energetic harmony. The intention here is not to assign blame or create fear, but to recognize patterns that keep a family in constant stress, separation, or unrest.
Awareness is the first step. Once identified, the energy of a space can be consciously reset, allowing the home to once again serve its true purpose: shelter, stability, and emotional safety for those who live within it.
Methods to Release Negative Energy from the Home
1. Begin the journey together
As partners it goes without saying that both husband and wife must be committed to this journey and share the intention of growing wise together. Healing the energy of a home begins with healing the relationship at its core. Start by realigning your relationship goals, seek counseling if needed, and commit to a daily sadhana that reconnects you with your inner self. Peace within is the foundation for peace around you.

Daily sadhana is not limited to physical wellness—it deeply supports emotional and mental balance as well. Practices such as Surya Namaskar, Bhramari pranayama, Trataka, and meditation, which are part of the everyday sadhana in my program, help strengthen inner intelligence and reduce mental noise and distractions.
For couples experiencing disturbed energy at home, beginning the day with focused morning sadhana (Rise with the sun program) together can be transformative. I strongly encourage couples to practice alongside me daily—these sessions are just 30 minutes each morning, before work and daily responsibilities begin. As your inner strength and clarity increase, your resilience to negative or stagnant energy naturally improves. When the home becomes energetically grounded and emotionally aligned, negativity loses its hold and gradually dissolves.
This Mahashivratri, commit to focused sadhana as a couple. Begin with intention, consistency, and trust—and watch your home and life transform into a space of peace, strength, and positivity that you will both be grateful for.

2. Use Sacred Aromas to Dispel Negative Energy
Negative or evil energy is highly sensitive to certain natural aromas. When exposed to these scents consistently, such energy cannot tolerate the environment and gradually leaves—much like mosquitoes retreat when exposed to repellents. These methods are gentle, time-tested, and deeply rooted in traditional wisdom.
• Sambrani (Benzoin Resin / Loban)

Sambrani, known in English as benzoin resin or gum benzoin, is a natural aromatic resin derived from the bark of Styrax trees. Widely used across India, it has long been burned to purify spaces, calm the nervous system, and elevate spiritual vibration. In North India, it is commonly called loban. Regular use of sambrani smoke helps cleanse stagnant energy and restore balance within the home.

• Agarbathi (Incense Sticks)
Agarbathi, or incense sticks, are thin bamboo sticks coated with aromatic herbs, resins, and natural oils. When burned, they release a gentle fragrance traditionally used during prayer, meditation, and daily rituals. Incense not only creates a peaceful atmosphere but also helps clear energetic heaviness from living spaces.
• Karpooram (Camphor)

Karpooram, or camphor, is a white, crystalline substance with a strong, purifying aroma, traditionally derived from the camphor tree (Cinnamomum camphora). Commonly used during pooja and aarthi, camphor is known to dispel negativity instantly. It is also valued in medicinal preparations for its cleansing and therapeutic properties.
• Daily Pooja or Aarthi to Your Kula Devata
One of the most powerful protections against negative energy comes from honoring your Kula Devata—the deity associated with your ancestral lineage. I personally keep images of my Kula Devatas in my pooja room, and I can confidently say that no external force protects a household more strongly than ancestral deities.

Kula Devatas act as guardians of the family lineage. Energetically, they stand at the forefront—much like a quarterback in American football—reading situations, shielding the family, and ensuring stability and protection. When honored regularly through simple daily pooja or Aarthi, they create a powerful energetic boundary around the home.
Consistency is key. These practices don’t work through fear or force, but through clarity, reverence, and alignment. Over time, the home naturally becomes a space where negativity cannot stay.
3-How to Prevent Negative Energy from Entering Your Home
I’ve shared this practice in an earlier podcast, but it’s worth revisiting because of how simple—and powerful—it is.

Take a fresh, ripe lemon and cut it into two equal halves. On one half, insert a few black peppercorns. On the other half, insert pieces of rock salt.
Apply kumkum evenly to both lemon halves, then place one half on each side of your main entrance door. According to traditional energy practices, this combination creates an aroma and energetic barrier that negative or evil energies cannot tolerate, preventing them from entering the home.
For best results, replace the lemons every Friday morning. Performing this ritual during Brahma Muhurtham—the quiet, sacred time before sunrise—amplifies its effectiveness. Personally, practicing this consistently during Brahma Muhurtham has been deeply transformative for me in ways that are difficult to put into words.
A simple way to know whether the ritual is working is to observe the lemons themselves. If, within a week, the lemons appear unusually darkened, shriveled, or spoiled, it is traditionally interpreted as a sign that negative energy has been absorbed or blocked from entering your space. This practice is not about superstition, it is about protection, intention, and awareness. When done with faith and consistency, it helps maintain harmony, clarity, and peace within the home.
Conclusion
My students trust my guidance because every practice I share is time-tested, deeply studied, and personally lived. I never recommend rituals simply because they are traditional or popular—I teach only what I have practiced myself and experienced at a transformational level. Initiating this transformative process on Mahashivratri is one of the best decisions you can take .
Approach these practices with gratitude, fearlessness, and sincere dedication, and you will begin to see profound shifts—not only within yourself, but within your home, your relationships, and your family’s collective well-being. When intention is pure and practice is consistent, life naturally rises to meet you.
Om Namah Shivaya.
