America's Top 3 Prescribed Pills: Could a Single Transformation Make the Difference?

Updated: 10 hours ago

Atorvastatin – used to lower high cholesterol

Metformin – used to manage diabetes

Lisinopril – used to control high blood pressure

At first glance, these medications may seem completely unrelated. But in reality, they are deeply connected—and often prescribed together—more than most people realize.

Here’s what the data shows about how many Americans used these medications in 2023:

Atorvastatin: Over 29.3 million patients

Lisinopril: Over 18.5 million patients

Metformin: Over 20.4 million patients

Exact number of people taking all 3 could be anywhere between 10-20 million adults.

The group most likely to be taking all three?

People living with metabolic syndrome—a cluster of conditions that dramatically increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes. These medications reveal just how widespread metabolic imbalance has become, and why holistic prevention is more important than ever.

What if I told you that the same three pills—atorvastatin, metformin, and lisinopril—are often connected to deeper imbalances & i have devised a method to eliminate all 3?

In yogic philosophy, these conditions reflect disturbances in the Manipura Chakra (Chakra 3 or metabolic chakra), the energetic center of metabolism, digestion, vitality, and personal power. When this chakra is blocked, the body’s natural processes of digestion, absorption, and elimination become disrupted, creating the foundation for many other metabolic conditions.

Imbalances with a weakened Manipura Chakra manifest as:

ree

Obesity

Type 2 diabetes

High blood pressure

High cholesterol

Gallbladder issues

GERD (gastro esophageal reflux disease)

Pancreatitis

Gastritis

Duodenitis

Colitis

(These are just the most common conditions; the complete list extends far beyond this.)

From a holistic perspective, when one imbalance arises in this chakra, others often follow—because the deeper energetic and lifestyle patterns remain unaddressed. Medications can manage symptoms, but they don’t always resolve the underlying causes, which is why many people find that their list of prescriptions grows over time. (doubles within a decade).

My approach focuses on supporting metabolic health by working with the Manipura Chakra through yoga, breathwork, mindful nutrition, and lifestyle alignment. These practices can complement your medical care, help you restore energetic flow, and strengthen the foundations of metabolic wellness—so you can feel more empowered, balanced, and in control of your long-term health.

What is Metabolic Syndrome?

Metabolic syndrome is not a single disease but a cluster of risk factors that dramatically increase a person's risk for serious health issues, including heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes. These risk factors are interconnected and often occur together, stemming from insulin resistance and excess fat, particularly around the waist. About one-third of U.S. adults are estimated to have this condition.

Key components of metabolic syndrome

For a diagnosis of metabolic syndrome, an individual must have at least 3 of the following 5 conditions:

  1. A large waistline: Excess abdominal fat, also known as "apple-shaped" obesity, is a key component. The risk increases significantly with a waist circumference over 35 inches for women and over 40 inches for men.

  2. High triglycerides: A triglyceride level of 150 mg/dL or higher or taking medication for high triglycerides.

  3. Low HDL ("good") cholesterol: A level under 40 mg/dL in men or under 50 mg/dL in women or taking medication for low HDL.

  4. High blood pressure: A reading of 130/85 mmHg or higher or taking medication for high blood pressure.

  5. High fasting blood sugar: A fasting blood sugar level of 100 mg/dL or higher, a previous diagnosis of type 2 diabetes, or taking diabetes medication.

Visceral fat, or the fat surrounding your internal organs, directly contributes to insulin resistance through multiple hormonal and inflammatory pathways. Unlike subcutaneous fat, which simply stores energy, visceral fat is highly metabolically active and acts like a toxic endocrine organ that produces harmful signals.

The Hidden Dangers of Metabolic Syndrome

Metabolic syndrome is far more serious than most people realize. Research consistently shows that it dramatically increases the risk of many life-threatening conditions:

  1. Heart Attack: Risk is nearly 2× higher than in individuals without metabolic syndrome.

  2. Stroke: Responsible for an estimated 19% of all strokes.

  3. Cancer: Increases the likelihood of developing cancer by 30–33%.

  4. Disability: Individuals are 1.46× more likely to experience mobility limitations.

  5. Dementia: Associated with up to a 24% higher risk of dementia.

  6. Premature Death: Linked to a 27% increase in early mortality.

Metabolic syndrome isn’t just a cluster of numbers on a lab report—it’s a powerful predictor of long-term health outcomes, affecting nearly every system in the body.

A stereotypical medical doctor in the U.S. often recommends a familiar trio: exercise, diet, and medication. But for many people, especially with today’s busy lifestyles, standard advice doesn’t always translate into long-term success.

Why doesn’t exercise work for so many in U.S?

Modern medicine encourages at least 30 minutes of cardio daily, yet most people struggle because:

  • Busy schedules leave little time for the gym

  • Cold winters limit outdoor activity

  • Gym membership and equipment can be costly

  • Taking a pill often feels quicker and more convenient
